Any contract over $25,000 in Tennessee requires a contractor license. This license will allow the builder to bid on, build, or modify any type of structure in Tennessee except for residential structures. This exam will also serve as your trades exam for North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Nevada, Oregon, Arkansas, West Virginia, Utah, Virginia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Of those states listed, only Alabama, South Carolina, and Tennessee require a separate license for residential construction.
The NASCLA exam is acceptable by Tennessee for the BC-B classification.
