Oregon Builder Contractor License Exam NASCLA

Oregon Contractor (NASCLA) In Oregon, anyone who works for compensation in any construction activity involving improvements to real property is required to be licensed.. The NASCLA exam is used for the General Building classification in OR. With the General Building classification a contractor can perform or subcontract all crafts on a residential structure. On a commercial or industrial project they cannot perform electrical; plumbing; heating, ventilating and cooling; piping; or general engineering but can sub-contract these crafts to properly licensed contractors. 

The NASCLA exam is accepted in NC, SC, GA, AL, TN, MS, LA, AR, NV, WV, UT, VA, OR and the U.S. Virgin Islands. All contractors must take a business law exam also.

Oregon Business and Law

The Oregon Business Law exam is required for all contractor licenses in Oregon.

It is a separate test based on the book NASCLA Guide to Business, Law, and Project Management for Contractors, Oregon Edition.

Vaious other state licenses also require the Oregon Business Law Exam before licensure.
