West Virginia Contractor (NASCLA) In West Virginia, a contractor\'s license is required for any job over $2,500. The NASCLA exam is used for the General Building classification in WV. With the General Building classification a contractor can perform or subcontract all crafts on a residential structure. On a commercial or industrial project they cannot perform electrical; plumbing; heating, ventilating and cooling; piping; or general engineering but can sub-contract these crafts to properly licensed contractors.
